Macro Photography at Cody Dock: Invertebrate Discovery & Skills Workshop
Morning Session: Invertebrate Discovery Walk
Guided by our on-site Biodiversity Officer, you’ll gain exclusive access to behind-the-scenes areas as we document as many of Cody Dock’s fascinating invertebrates as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to observe and photograph rarely seen species in their natural habitat.
Afternoon Session: Skills Sharing & Workshops
After a morning in the field, connect with fellow macro photography enthusiasts to exchange insights on technique, gear, and creative approaches. Plus, take part in hands-on workshops covering:
📸 DIY Diffusers – Learn how to craft your own light diffuser for macro shots.
🔬 Focus Stacking Software – Master the technique of stacking multiple images for unparalleled sharpness and detail.
Who Should Join?
Whether you’re an experienced macro photographer, a hobbyist, or just starting out, this event is perfect for anyone eager to explore nature up close and refine their skills.
What to Bring:
✅ A camera – Ideally a DSLR or mirrorless, but most digital compacts and bridge cameras with macro functions will work.

✅ Memory cards & spare batteries – We’ll be experimenting with different techniques, so come prepared!
✅ Additional gear – Any lenses, flashguns, or accessories you’d like to test out.
✅ Outdoor clothing & footwear – Expect some kneeling and ground-level shooting, so dress accordingly.
✅ Lunch – Not included, but there’s a café on-site, or feel free to bring your own.
