Afternoon Butterfly Walk in the Heart of England Forest – BioBlitz 2023

Get involved in the Heart of England Forest BioBlitz . This Butterfly survey walk is led by Mike Slater from Butterfly Conservation.

Take a walk around Noleham and Giddings Wood with Mike Slater from Butterfly Conservation Warwickshire, recording all the different butterfly species we see. Noleham Wood’s low-flying butterflies are already well-recorded with great numbers of brimstone, as well as the marvellous marbled white.

Arboreal butterflies, like purple emperor and white-letter hairstreak, have only been very occasionally recorded here and we hope to find some of these on the day, so make sure to bring a pair of binoculars if you have them.

This survey is part of the third annual Heart of England Forest Bioblitz where we will be creating a snapshot of the variety of species found in a specific area of the Forest during a 24 hour period. No previous BioBlitz experience or species knowledge is required to get involved.

Registration for this event is free however we would appreciate it if you would be willing to make a donation to help us to grow the forest and work on creating and maintaining a mosaic of wildlife habitats. This wildlife surveying event is not suitable for dogs to attend.
